Under a Turquoise Sky

"Under a Turquoise Sky" is a unique, one of a kind kiln formed glass wall piece. Inspired by the vistas of the great Southwest, dotted with surging rock formations led to this particular work. The foreground rock is created by implementing hand made clear glass rods wrapped with colored glass line work and fused at a temperature that allows the texture to be maintained. The 'turquoise sky' is developed over several firings using various sizes and colors of crushed glass. The circle elements are created with glass cullet (larger shards) and emulate the cloud formations and revered turquoise stone jewelry of the Native American tribes. The border pattern is made using small pieces of colored glass rods in traditional Southwest colors. This is a highly tactile work and invites the viewer to explore the vista and surface with hands and eyes.

This piece comes ready to hang with an aluminum backing material and a built in hanging mechanism.
