Oval Spotted Salmon
Art Glass Wall Sculpture
Created by
Michael Dupille
Realism and artistic interpretation come together in this tactile glass fish wall sculpture, made using various kiln-formed glass techniques developed by the artist—who is considered a pioneer in the fused glass movement.
Inspired by the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest, "Oval Spotted Salmon" incorporates a mix of transparent and opaque glass, glass paste, crushed glass, and reflective dichroic glass for rich texture and color that changes based on differing lighting conditions. In the final firing, transparent glass rods are added to create a tactile and optical effect, which gives the finished piece its unique surface texture.
The attached aluminum backing and hanging mechanism creates a drop shadow effect when hung. Hanging hardware included.
