Indian Corn Platter
Art Glass Platter
Created by
Michael Dupille
Inspired by the fall harvest, this one of a kind piece utilizes various kiln formed glass techniques developed by the artist. Several sizes of crushed glass are arranged on an amber base sheet of glass then placed in a kiln for firing The primary design is created by applying a glass paste and textured. The corn imagery is done by carving the dried paste areas. The colored "corn" patterns are made by cutting glass rod segments and placing them for fusing. Different sizes of frit are added around the design elements over several firings to enhance the image. The final firing determines the the platters' shape, by placing the piece on a mold in a kiln.
