Bill Palmer

Bill Palmer & Co

"I am passionate about working with exotic woods. I find inspiration in their natural colors and intricate grain patterns and then incorporate these into my organic-inspired designs."

Bill Palmer loves the outdoors and he loves wood. As an avid hiker since his teens and a landscaper for 25 years, Palmer developed a keen appreciation for natural forms and materials. After extensive study and experimentation in most art mediums, Palmer discovered working with exotic woods. His constant observations of 'random patterns' in nature are reflected in the clean, curving lines of his work.

Each of Palmer's pieces begins with a pencil-drawn design. Then the perfect wood is chosen from the lumber bin and milled to size before being cut into parts. The parts are fitted, sculpted, sanded, disassembled and tested for fit again before final assembly. He then hand-rubs the finished piece with a tung oil/poly blend to highlight the true character of the wood and the intended design.

Bill Palmer has always been an artist. When he discovered woodworking in 1995, he began designing and building unique studio furniture and sculptures. He has been successfully exhibiting and selling his pieces since 2004.
