Skin Series #14, Water Fountain

This watercolor is on surprise watercolor paper. It feels like a cold press, but the paper was purchased at auction. The Skin, Hair & Water Series has been influenced by all of the former paintings by the artist of her elephants - their skin, their texture, but the artist, who lives near one of the Great Lakes, also draws upon the connection to the motion, flow, and the wonderful blues of Lake Huron. Nature also impacts the new series - the mane of a horse, the flow of a zebra's tail - this is where the "hair" fits in the series.
