Much of the artist's work references geology and the formations on land and at times underwater. "Rift" depicts a linear zone where the lithosphere is being pulled apart and creates what looks like a dark river. Most rifts occur along mid-ocean ridges. The artist's signature line work references the topography of the land, in this islands off the coast of a peninsula. The lines on the white land forms are incised into the paint and the other gray lines are drawn with pencil. The artist used watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and graphite to complete this work on paper. This piece ships rolled.
