Flights of Fancy

The artist's watercolor paintings are busy, crowded works. She will often focus on the entire surface of the painting, with background, foreground, and middle ground often fused into one. She also enjoys mixing colors on the paper and using brush strokes to give her work rhythm and energy. These brushstrokes add a loose quality to what would otherwise be extremely realistic paintings.

Recently she has become fascinated by the Surrealist artists. "Flights of Fancy" evolved from examining how they would incorporate figures into the landscape, often destroying one image to create another reality. It also reflects the joy she experiences in taking a step back from technology, to quietly interact with nature.
