Stephanie O'Brien

"Combining inspiration from patterns and textures found in nature with the industrial look of metal disks and balled wire, I create visually exciting work that is fun to wear."

As a designer, Stephanie O'Brien creates jewelry that is focused on the process of making. She looks to patterns and textures in fashion, fiber arts, and other crafts for inspiration. Her obsession with structure and construction can be seen in the repetitive processes and rhythmic lines used to create her work.

All of O'Brien's pieces are handmade. She drills, domes, and uses a disk cutter to cut out each and every disk used in her work. Each ball of silver is created by heating both ends of a piece of wire, which makes it ball up while still allowing for movement.

Stephanie O'Brien received her BFA in jewelry and objects from Savannah College of Art and Design, where she graduated as valedictorian. Previously, she worked as a studio assistant for Biba Schutz and as a production jeweler at Lulu Frost Jewelry.
