The Village Lamps
Oil Painting

"The Village Lamps" is on cradled birch panel. It depicts an interior room in a house in Los Angeles that Nan called the "Leopard House" because it had leopard patterns in every room. There were so many kooky patterns and objects in the house. For this composition, she moved a valet table, a chair shaped like a Picasso painting, and interesting lamps into the bedroom. It was nighttime when Nan sketched the room, so the view outside is totally made-up. She had fun with this whimsical interior room.
