Playa Santa 19
Created by Virginia Bradley
A new work on Duralar film created in the artist's Playa Santa open-air studio in Puerto Rico. She is a great swimmer and snorkeler, and the texture of the underwater coral in her cove has definitely affected the surface of this painting. The painting is composed of many layers of oil paint which is pooled on to the surface of the image and then dried in the sun to create unusual alchemical effects. The painting is then subtracted and added into the surface through brush work. This process is repeated until the painting is transformed into a finished work.
