Lichens and Moss

"Lichens and Moss" is the first of a new series of paintings by Vermont artist, Judy Hawkins. For many years Hawkins has been drawn to and fascinated by the evolution of a tree from seed to decomposition. She has been photographing "elderly" trees for years. The woods around her rural house has abandoned orchards, and old maples, and trees that she photographed last fall are now organic piles on the earth. "Lichens and Moss" is a painting of an old apple tree on her road. This original oil is ready to hang. An archival varnish had been applied to protect the painting's vibrant colors.

Painting is framed with an attractive professionally made wooden frame which is 1" wide.
