Dejitaru Reiku
Mixed-Media Wall Sculpture
Created by
Ken Girardini and Julie Girardini
"Dejitaru Reiku" uses images from a lake in Maine and Japanese graphic techniques to inspire the composition of bold colors and imagery. The artist loves compositions of altered imagery contrasted with bold graphic statements. Aluminum panels are cut, rolled, and interlocked in a puzzle like form to create a three dimensional construction of imagery. Printing on transparent layers of acrylic medium the artist is able to transfer original imagery to the metal surface and alter them by painting both under and over them. He can add as many layers as needed and decide where to deepen the images or keep them transparent allowing the metal surface to reflect through.
