Winged Sunset

This luminous linocut print was inspired by an oil painting the artist made in 2004 of Cape Smokey on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. After reworking the size and various elements of the original piece, the artist used reduction printing to create the first seven impressions, adding the birds as the final step of the printing process. As many as six colors were applied at once in an individual impression, and 32 colors in total were used to create this wonderfully detailed print.
