First Snow
Linocut Print
Created by
William Hays
Printed with oil based, fine art printmaking inks on Stonehenge, 100 percent rag paper. Titled, numbered and signed in pencil below the image area, dated on reverse.
A still evening snowfall blankets freshly harvested fields for the first white of the coming winter. A farmhouse is illuminated from within. Inside the barn, the last of the day's work is also lighted. This seven-color linocut print is inspired by the many farms hugging the Connecticut River near the artist's home in Vermont.
