Elizabeth Holmes

"For the past twenty years, my focus has been on identifying landscapes with a strong sense of place that connect us to the past."

Elizabeth Holmes is a fine art and travel photographer who uses alternative and digital processes to capture vanishing and cultural landscapes. She has photographed everything from disappearing ghost towns in the American West and iconic scenes along Route 66 to farms, vineyards, and waterfronts. She is inspired by the spiritual qualities found in the land and seascapes around her. In her photographs, she uses these images as metaphors for those experiences that connect us to our inner lives and define who we are.

Photographing with infrared film and then hand coloring on matte surface prints with oils and pencils, Holmes creates images that appear both dreamy and timeless. The hand-coloring process makes each photograph one of a kind.

Holmes's award-winning work has been featured in galleries and collections throughout the United States.
