Wind and Tenderness

The artist returned to the Dominican Republic where she was born after a 15-year absence. While there she wanted to explore the roots of her native island. Though she was not a landscape painter, she began to paint landscapes. She painted "Wind and Tenderness" outdoors in the heat, with bugs and lizards visiting while she worked. The external conditions allowed her to transfer the beauty and intensity of the island. "Wind and Tenderness" has been translated by her in many other media. She considers it a self portrait in landscape.
