Rising #42 - Caravan

Fiber Wall Hanging

Created by Allegra Brelsford
The artist's "Rising" series is about the structures we build, and what comes back in return - whether from nature or human interaction with the natural environment. This piece imagines the desert receding in the distance as one looks out the back window of a caravan wagon.

All cotton quilted wall-hanging. Pieced and quilted in 100 percent cotton, layered with cotton batting and backing, and finished with a knife-edge binding technique. Quilted through all layers with 100 percent cotton variegated thread.

A hanging sleeve included, recessed at the ends, through which a narrow wooden dowel can be inserted, and hung by the ends on small nails in the wall.

Hang out of direct light and away from food areas and open flames. Occasional cleaning with a lint roller to remove dust and lint is usually all this is required, but dry cleaning by an experienced cleaner may be desired. Spot clean with cold water if desired.
