Song of a Hooded Crow

Highlighting the unique and dramatic plumage of the hooded crow, this mixed-media work is based on the artist’s original photograph. Ishii highlights the image with colored pencils to create a painterly effect and affixes the print to a cradled wood panel with PVA. She coats the piece with wax to give the image a translucent quality, and the sides of the board are painted black and finished with clear acrylic—so framing is optional. Printed with archival pigment inks on cotton printmaking paper.
