Wood ducks win the beauty contest for the most uniquely colored ducks. The male is slightly more glamorous than the female, whose lovely muted colors help camouflage her chicks during nesting. Moore was inspired by their beauty to create this art piece after capturing this male and female in flight during their migration south for the winter.
The artist begins her process with original bird photographs taken with a high-quality digital camera. She then layers multiple images of watercolor paintings and textured papers to create a unique composite art piece. The print was made on fine art heavy cotton rag paper with archival pigment inks, which produce a rich and realistic print that will last indefinitely.
