Ceramic Wall Sculpture
Created by Rod Hemming
As the name represents it consists of three Shires, the Shire horse, the English shire it is standing in, and the third shire across the river (the third meaning county). "Three Shires" is a wall sculpture made from smooth handmade tiles that the artist slab rolled. The tiles are then bisque fired at cone 04. The individual tiles vary in size because of the handmade nature and are then arranged to give a rustic look of the times. It was first hand drawn and then under glazed like a painting with thin brushes #1-3 . The finished artwork is fired at cone 05 and then reassembled into a finished piece. The handmade wood frame is 2.25"W and is included in the measurements below. A 100 lb wire is attached at the back for safe hanging. A custom cardboard box is made to size for shipping the artwork safely.
