Purple Double Spiral Wall Tile Composition

This wall tile composition is made up of four tiles, each one thrown and then carved from high-fire stoneware clay. Clay is added to give quite a bit of depth, creating a sculpture for the wall. Once the tiles are fired, multiple glazes are sprayed and this technique gives texture and dimension to the colors. Since the glazes are sprayed from one direction, the other side of the design remains unglazed, creating contrast between the rich and varied colors and the raw clay surface. This also adds interest, as the piece looks different from every angle, and the contrast highlights the abstract design of the piece. Each tile is roughly 10 inches by 10 inches, but the piece must be hung as a diamond as shown. It hangs using a French cleat. All the hardware and instructions are provided.
