Restless Waves

This stoneware clay wall tile composition starts out on the wheel. Each section is thrown, and then a sketch of the design is carved in the wet clay. After clay is added to give the piece more depth, it is carved and smoothed to create the ridges. The bisque-fired piece has several glazes layered on, by spraying, to create a range and depth of colors, after which the piece is high-fired in reduction.
