Sunlit Lavender

Ceramic Vase

Created by Jean Elton
Bathed in rays of sunlight, these colors evoke an easy-going indulgence.

The top of this SV is distinguished by distinctive folding of its top edge and a gentle sculpting partially around the work. The artist chose to augment the design of this particular piece with what Jean Elton calls a 'portal' -- a carveout that affords the viewer more peeks into the interior than otherwise. The surface treatment of this piece of Jean Elton work is an example of the so-called 'Geometrics' series after the hand-painted shapes and complexity evocative of a colorful geometric maze. Both the interior and exterior have a matte finish.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations can be made with reduced risk of loss due to breakage. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F brings the process to completion. While most do not use Jean Elton work to hold flowers for display, this work (as all Jean Elton pieces) does hold water.

A certificate of authenticity provided with the sale of each Jean Elton work displays that work's unique serial number found on its underside. Both the work and its certificate are signed by Jean Elton.
