Pablo Bottle IV
Ceramic Vessel
Created by
Catherine Satterlee
One of a series of abstract bottles, this heavy vessel is watertight and can hold a floral arrangement. But its real purpose is to be a vehicle for the exploration of texture and pattern. The shards were made from colored clay pressed onto the two faces while the form was still damp. They were covered with a thick layer of black slip which was very gently scraped off at the leatherhard stage. Unglazed on the outside, there is a lovely caramel glaze on the interior. Four pounds.
