Demi-Pierced Starburst Orb
Ceramic Vase
Created by
Lynne Meade
This wheel-thrown stoneware vessel is detailed with small holes when the clay is wet, and each hole is carefully enlarged and smoothed when the clay is bone dry.
The starburst color effect is achieved by applying a single glaze in varying amounts before being slow fired and slow cooled to allow crystal formation to occur. This technique and the glaze are volatile and unpredictable, so each is unique and will vary.
Part of the “Pierced Collection,” which is inspired by mid-century modern design.
