Primary Shallow Tapestry Bowl

Art Glass Bowl

Created by Richard Parrish
Richard Parrish is known for his signature "Tapestry" bowls, plates, and wall hangings. The Tapestry pieces are inspired by repetitive rows in fields of grain and hand-woven fabrics. They are composed of linear patterns of transparent and opaque colored glass strands, creating intricate fiber like textures expressing the juncture between organic and geometric. Patterned sheets made with the glass threads are cut, layered, and kiln formed.

This large bowl explores color theory in a constantly changing juxtaposition of colors of the spectrum. The look of each bowl changes dynamically as it is seen from different viewpoints and in varying light. People are drawn to touch these pieces, and to experience the visual depth in the pieces.

The surface of the glass is cold worked to achieve a soft, semi-gloss finish which reduces glare and enhances the intricate pattern and rich colors. Color patterns will vary a bit from piece to piece due to the process of making each piece from scratch. Food safe, hand wash. Signed on bottom.
