Lila Bacon

"Making art has always been an integral part of my life. From the time I was a child, I knew it was a tool, a way of channeling the world around me through my vision."

Lila Bacon is a master of fine art floral paintings. She loves to describe space by placing emphasis on the world around an object, rather than the object itself. It's the joy in this act of discovery that she is truly in love with.

Although Lila Bacon has concentrated on different media throughout her career (including charcoal, pastels, and watercolors), she has been working primarily in acrylics for the past 18 years. She considers flowers to be her muse and the inspiration for most of her work.

Lila Bacon earned a BFA from Parsons School of Design in 1973. She has had a three-person show at the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum in Woodstock, New York, and a one-person show at Lifebridge Sanctuary in High Falls, New York. In 1981, Lila and her husband, Norman Bacon, opened Sweetheart Gallery in Woodstock, New York, which became a venue for her work.
