JacQueline Sanchez

"One of the things I love about being an artist is knowing that, in a small way, I am bringing a bit of joy to people's lives. My work has an innocence that makes the wearer smile."

JacQueline Sanchez handcrafts playful, elegant works of wearable modern art. Her love for architecture inspired her to use LEGO bricks as an art medium. For more than fifteen years, LEGO bricks have been a big part of her practice. LEGO represents a lot for people. Its modern style with bold, architectural structure enables her to push the boundaries of this beautiful material.

Sanchez creates each piece with a passion for design and the highest standards in craftsmanship and durability. She sands, cuts, drills, and sandblasts each LEGO piece. After being cut, every piece is saved, and eventually, all the pieces of one LEGO brick are used in different artworks.

JacQueline Sanchez graduated from The Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology in 1993, where she learned the fundamentals of jewelry making, repair, and stone setting. For ten years, she worked as a bench jeweler for various companies, working under masters of her field and honing her skills to later open her own business. She was given the advice of a mentor to push herself, and her heart lead her to LEGO bricks.
