Eugenie Torgerson

"I seek to somehow explore the beauty of the land, the power of the horizon, the weight of loss, and the sweetness of redemption. "

Eugenie Torgerson brings together contemporary digital image-making and traditional studio materials in work that combines photographs, pastels, text, and maps. The result is a layered visual language that is haunting, magical, and beautiful.

Torgerson generates digital composites and prints them on various substrates including paper and steel, presenting the images in formats influenced by her work as a book maker. She lives and works in a former elementary school in rural southwestern Michigan.

Eugenie Torgerson has a BA with honors in printmaking from Northwestern University.
