Catherine Grisez

"My jewelry was born from a desire to translate my larger work into a more accessible scale, where pieces can be handled, worn, and treasured."

Inspired by mountain and beach walks in the Pacific Northwest, Catherine Grisez hopes to share the calm she finds in nature through her use of organic forms and materials. Necklaces, earrings, and bracelets often reference organic seed and pod shapes, contrasted with the geometry of faceted and raw gemstones. Her designs draw from the beauty of both the invented and the natural.

Grisez's limited edition jewelry pieces are handmade one at a time in her Seattle studio. Techniques include hand forging, electroforming, casting, and fabrication. Pieces are created with precious and semi-precious materials, recycled metals, and gemstones.

Grisez earned a B.F.A. in jewelry and light metals from the Rhode Island School of Design. She also studied marble carving, printmaking, and art history in Cortona, Italy via the Lamar Dodd School of Art, and steel fabrication at South Seattle Community College and Pratt Fine Art Center in Seattle, Washington.
