Abigale Palmer

"Great art is a conversation. My art is an effort to inspire conversations about finding beauty in the details of daily life: magic in the mundane, radiance in routine, high-chroma colors in the gray sand, and finding courage to make the most of it all."

Abigale Palmer is driven by a deep love of color, which began in childhood. She had poor vision as a child that was not identified for several years, and this period trained her to perceive her world in color more than with defined lines. Palmer's work opens a window for both herself and the viewer to completely rediscover items, scenes, and objects in our daily rituals and routines.

Palmer begins each painting with a warm-toned panel, setting the stage for strong color vibration. After a quick sketch with her paint brush, she dives in with layers of bold color: impasto skies, bright blue shadows, and bold reds strewn across the surface. She makes use of all her brush has to offer, employing the handle as well as the bristles for mark making and drawing on her paintings.

Palmer earned her BFA from Brigham Young University in 2010, and she continues to refine her craft through study and travel. She has painted in diverse landscapes, from the bustle of London to a dirt floor hut in the Tongan Islands. Eager to learn from contemporaries and old masters alike, she always has a book while she travels and paints.
